Beating The Holiday Blues

Hello Everyone,

Tis the season to be merry and joyous! It’s the time to be festive and celebrate the wondrousness of this magical time, oh and those red cups! Who doesn’t love those?

A lot of people put so much pressure on themselves to make this time of year so special. Whether it’s trying to out do last year, or pay attention to every detail so you don’t miss out on the festivities.

Other people get overwhelmed with melancholy emotions during this time of year because they feel lonely or miss loved ones that are no longer with us.

Most of the time my blog posts are inspired by all of you, but this one was inspired by me lol. I was sitting down with a cup of coffee mincing up some food for my dogs. I was in a really good mood and thought some Christmas music would be fun. The first song came on and the tears just came. I started thinking of my grandmother, mistakes I made. It totally came out of nowhere. I had to turn off the music. I knew this post was the next I’d write.

Okay here are some tips:)

  • BE ORGANIZEDMake gift lists, set a budget, look for easy holiday recipes, find helpers. . . .
  • DON’T TAKE ON TOO MUCHIt’s okay to say no. Make life easier by opting for easy wrapping. Stick to your strengths. You will enjoy the season if you are not overwhelmed by trying to make everything perfect. Have your kids make amazon wish lists so you’ll know exactly what they want.
  • OPEN UP TO FRIENDSIf you are really feeling the blues don’t feel alone. there are so many people that feel the same way this time of year. Let friends and family know. You won’t be bothering or disappointing them. Chances are that they are feeling the same way too.
  • MAKE GOALS FOR 2017At this time of year we always think about what we didn’t accomplish. It’s okay, a new year is coming. This is the perfect time to have a fresh start. You can make your goals small to start with. Every journey begins with a single step.
  • DONATE TO LOCAL CHARITIESIf you are feeling lonely, jaded, or blue this will brighten your mood. Shopping and preparing for a local charity will put you in a better mood. It’s fun to have someone to shop for, being that it’s a local charity you’ll have a chance at making some friends. Toys for tots, homeless shelters, animal shelters. . . . You may even be motivated to start your own charity.
  • TREAT YOURSELFGive yourself something to look forward too. Okay it may not be as much fun as  getting an actual gift, but at least it will be something you know you’ll like. It can be a gift or an experience like a massage or facial.
  • GO TO THE MOVIESYou don’t have to stay home and be bored at home, movie theatre’s are open during the holidays. You don’t even have to see a holiday movie. My suggestion is to watch an action or horror movie. I find that they are the best for taking away your troubles by getting you out of your element.

I hope this post has cheered you up. Comment below if you have any tips of your own please comment below:)
